An eighth noose was found at the construction site for an Amazon fulfilment center in Windsor, Connecticut, CNN reported.

The noose was found "mixed in with an entangled with electrical cords," which were being stored on a pallet on the floor, the police said in a Wednesday statement cited by CNN.

The site was shut down as a result. It's expected to reopen on Thursday, Donald Melanson, the Windsor police chief said, per CNN.

Construction was also stopped earlier this month after seven nooses were found. The discoveries began in late April.

Nuchette Black-Burk, a town councilwoman, said leaders in the town would pressure Amazon to keep the site closed until life in the town "comes back to normal," CNN reported.

An Amazon spokeswoman told CNN: "Hate, racism or discrimination have no place in our society and are certainly not tolerated in any Amazon workplace — whether it be under construction like this one, or fully operational."

It also vowed to "hold the perpetrators accountable." Amazon and the facility's development company said last week that they were jointly offering a $100,000 reward for information.
